Oscars Nominations 2024: Thoughts & Predictions

Its the most wonderful time of the year... Awards Season! Its that time of year again that everyone counts down the days until the Oscars (only me... I'm crazy). The Oscar nominations were released this morning and of course I have some thoughts. Below are each category with who I predict to win or who I just want to win and of course the snubs of the year. The Oscars ceremony will take place on March 10th and I can't wait because it is (weirdly enough) one of my favourite nights of the year.

List of nominations found at: https://www.oscars.org/oscars/ceremonies/2024

ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE
I love this list of nominees. I really hope its either Cillian Murphy, Paul Giamatti or Jeffrey Wright. I think Cillian has the best chance.

BRADLEY COOPER
Maestro

COLMAN DOMINGO
Rustin

PAUL GIAMATTI
The Holdovers

CILLIAN MURPHY
Oppenheimer

JEFFREY WRIGHT
American Fiction

ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE
This is such a great list of actors. I would like to see either Mark Ruffalo or Robert Downey Jr. win this one. I'd be contempt with anyone on this list winning though.

Killers of the Flower Moon

ROBERT DOWNEY JR.
Oppenheimer

RYAN GOSLING

MARK RUFFALO

ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE

DIRECTING
This is the only category I am mad about. Outraged by the fact that Greta Gerwig is not nominated.  I am so happy for Justine Triet and I hope she wins, but the fact that she is only the 8th woman in history to be nominated for Best Director is very telling.

Justine Triet

KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON
Martin Scorsese

OPPENHEIMER
Christopher Nolan

POOR THINGS
Yorgos Lanthimos

THE ZONE OF INTEREST
