Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

 Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024) - IMDb

Ahhhh the juice is loose, Beetlejuice is back again! I was so excited for this movie,  I am so glad that it is doing well and that people are going to the theatres to go see it. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is the sequel that we all needed this Halloween season and it is perfect for fans of the original film.

I love the original cast members Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, and Michael Keaton. They slipped right back into these characters. I love Winona Ryder, she is fantastic in this like she is in everything. I liked Jenna Ortega as Astrid, Lydia’s daughter. Jenna Ortega back in the world of Tim Burton just makes sense. She fits so well into the Beetlejuice universe.

A character I wish they built up more and spent more time on was Jeremy, the ghost boy from the neighbourhood who tries to steal Astrid’s soul. I just knew he was going to be evil the second that I saw him and I wish that we saw a nicer side of him for longer so that when the reveal came that he was evil, I would feel more emotionally attached to the character. I also really didn't care that much about the storyline with Beetlejuice's ex-wife. It was comedic enough but didn't have much depth to it. I like the scene when she is re-attatching her body parts and we get a cameo from THE Danny DeVito.

Willem Dafoe as Wolf Jackson, a dead actor, wanna-be a cop is hilarious. I really enjoyed his performance in this movie. My favourite character in the whole movie though is Bob. Justice for Bob, I loved Bob.

I love any Tim Burton and Danny Elfman collaboration, it reminds me of Halloween movies as a kid. The soundtrack and score delivers and creates the same look and feel as the original film.

I felt good leaving the theatre, this movie made me feel so happy. It is a good sequel, but honestly I don’t think you can watch this movie without seeing the original film. I would have been very confused without the background of the original.

This movie brings you back into the unique world of Beetlejuice, and the mind of Tim Burton, reuniting us with a beloved cast from a classic fan favourite. Highly recommend for fans of the original film, and if you have not seen Beetlejuice go watch it this Halloween season.
