Joker: Folie à Deux

Yikes.
I left this movie so unsatisfied. The writing is lazy, there is so much filler, and there is zero narrative. There is too much time is spent in two boring settings - the prison and the courthouse. The whole time I was just waiting for something to happen.
I didn’t expect so much music. And not just a lot of music, but really bad music. I understand they are both not supposed to be amazing singers on purpose but it was terrible to listen to for two hours.
I love Lady Gaga as Lee Quinzel but even her singing sucked. I know. She is such a good singer so I was expecting her to, you know...sing! But she had this weird raspy talking singing thing instead for the whole film. Which is such a disappointing use of her amazing vocals. Her character could have been much more interesting, but I feel like they just added her for the sake of having a new character into this world.
I like that they kept the same tone as the original film, but that's about it. I also liked the cartoon intro to the film, but it felt unnecessary. There are a couple of small interesting reveals about Arthur's childhood throughout the film, but this movie didn’t have the same shock factor as the first film.
I think they just really didn’t know what to do with a sequel. Maybe it should have been left where it was. Joker Folie a Deux just feels like Warner Brothers wanted a "sure thing" that would make money back. Such an incredible first film, it's unfortunate this one really dropped the ball for me.
