2023 Movies Ranked
Goodbye 2023! One good thing that came out of this year is how many movies I got to go out and see. The following is a compiled list of every movie I watched released in 2023, ranked. It is ranked from least favourite to most favourite. Looking back, I am grateful for all the fun movie-going experiences I had this year and I’m excited to see what 2024 brings us in the form of film. Thank you to Letterboxd for allowing me to log all my movies and rate them like a crazy person.
31 Zoey 102
No.
30 Mr. Dressup: The Magic of Make-Believe
It’s not that this wasn’t a good film, I just didn’t have the emotional connection to the film that other people had because I had never watched the show.
29 Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantumania
Terrible. Sorry Paul Rudd.
28 Teen Wolf: The Movie
As a big fan of the original show, I was very disappointed by this movie. It was fun to see the gang back together but it just didn’t feel right. Also, there was no Stiles.
27 Infinity Pool
Creepy but interesting
26 Asteroid City
It’s not a bad movie but not a good movie. Expected more of a Wes Anderson film.
25 Family Switch
Just another silly body switch movie, but kinda fun
24 Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny
Meh sequel but enjoyable
23 Scream VI
I love this cast, pretty good
22 Shazam! Fury of the Gods
Just another superhero movie, really funny though
21 The Super Mario Bros. Movie
Depressed star and Jack Black singing about peaches
20 Red, White & Royal Blue
Cute and cringe but mostly cute
19 Bottoms
Fun and weird
18 Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves
I didn’t know anything about Dungeons and Dragons but I liked this one
17 Haunted Mansion
Amazing cast and more connections to the ride
16 Blackberry
“I’m from Waterloo where the vampires hangout”
15 Ferrari
Adam Driver driving
14 Priscilla
Different perspective
13 Quiz Lady
Awkwafina on a game show
12 Dumb Money
Stonks.
11 Elemental
Pixar’s Romeo and Juliet but they both live in the end
10 Gran Turismo
I don’t know if this movie was super awesome or if I only loved it because I had an entire theatre to myself
9 The Marvels
This trio deserved more attention
8 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
I BALLED my eyes out.
7 Anyone But You
Koalas.
6 The Little Mermaid
Under the seaaaaa
5 Oppenheimer
Crazy movie-going experience
4 The Hunger Games: Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes
Snow lands on top.
3 Spider-man Across the Spiderverse
So pretty
2 Barbie
The movie that brought us “Hi Barbie!”, “Kenergy”, and the greatest movie monologue of all time.
1 Wonka
All you need to know is Hugh Grant is an Oompa Loompa and Timothee Chalamet sings about chocolate and it's great.
